Most hard chrome finishes applied are about .001" thick and hard chrome is very hard and can not be machined by normal methods, hard chroming can only be ground down by precision lathes or mills set up with grinding fixtures.

Here is the wheel I would recommend. SG5 60J made by Norton. This is a ceramic wheel, the best I have used for chrome.
